The Trotters Lounge is a place for reliable lower-leg care that helps people stay mobile and at ease. Stocking support and leg washing, for example, as well as nail cares and skin therapy for people with venous insufficiency, lymphoedema, diabetes and similar. Our sessions are shaped around the individual — preventing small issues from becoming big ones, and supporting safe independence at home.
Each session is more than treatment though. It’s a time to talk, to check in, and ensure people feel seen and supported. For neighbours who live alone or rarely get visitors, these sessions help rebuild social connection and strengthen community wellbeing through simple acts of being together.
By offering affordable, accessible care, we help people feel in control of their health and daily life. Whether after illness, through ageing, or with long-term conditions, our service provides reassurance and practical help.
We provide careful trimming and maintenance of toenails for those who are unable to manage this independently. Keeping nails properly maintained helps prevent discomfort, ingrowing nails and reduced mobility.
For some people, safely washing and drying their legs can be difficult. We provide gentle cleansing and careful drying as part of a dignified, supportive service. This helps maintain hygiene, protect skin integrity and promote wellbeing.
We support attendees in managing compression garments and hosiery safely and comfortably. This includes assistance with applying and removing stockings, checking fit, and ensuring garments are clean and in good condition. Proper garment care is essential for maintaining circulation and preventing complications.
We provide practical support for people living with lower-limb swelling (oedema). This includes monitoring changes, encouraging appropriate self-management, and offering advice to help maintain comfort and mobility. Early attention to swelling can make a significant difference to long-term leg health.
Healthy skin is the foundation of good leg health. We gently cleanse, moisturise and inspect the skin, helping to prevent dryness, cracking and irritation. Regular skin care can reduce the risk of infection and improve comfort and confidence.
Trotters Lounge CIC is an independent community provider and is not currently funded by the local authority or health board. We are, however, supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, which enables us to make high-quality leg care accessible to everyone — not just those who can afford private treatment.
The standard independent rate is: £22 per session.
Thanks to grant support, however, most attendees pay a reduced contribution of: £8 per session*.
Both amounts are inclusive of all clinical costs and treatments. There are no additional costs irrespective of individual needs.
* Grant-supported places are payable in four-weekly blocks of £32 per block.
The team is also at discretion to offer other options depending circumstances.
